The Best Feeling Ever

The Best Feeling Ever

When I was 8 years old, my Sunday school teacher had our class enter a contest to win a chance to be featured in the following years calendar of this international Christian Outreach organization our local church was affiliated with.

The contest was simple. Answer this one question, “What does peace mean to you?”

I mustered up all my 8 year old wisdom to come up with this response,

“Peace is like a Dove that flies in the air. Peace is Freedom.”

At the time I wasn’t sure what the statement even meant, but I felt it.

And, apparently the judges felt it too, because I was selected as one of the winners and featured in the calendar.

Peace has always been a feeling for me, and in my opinion there is no better feeling than that of peace.

To be at peace with yourself.

To be at peace with your efforts.

To be at peace with your outcomes.

To be at peace with your current circumstances.

To be at peace with your life.

For me, peace has never been about having something, not having something, doing something, or not doing something. It’s always been about this simple idea of the freedom that comes from both being you and doing you.

We all have this freedom, but few of us actually embrace it to the extent to feel the peace my 8 year old self was referring to.

If we want to experience peaceful being and purposeful doing we need to get comfortable with living differently than those around us. Get comfortable with being yourself.

The strategy is simple.

Simply be the best that you can be, and do the best that you can do.

Embrace your agency. Live with purpose, and find your peace.
