Environment > Effort

Environment > Effort

Imagine you were born 50 years prior to your actual birthdate. You wouldn’t be the same you!

Imagine you were born in a different part of the world. You wouldn’t be the same you!

Think about that. The exact same bundle of genomic potential will produce drastically different results just by modifying the time and/or place.

Who we identify to be and who we become is heavily influenced by our environment.

But how often are we tending to our environment? Not as much as we should!

Instead we opt for a more effortful path forward. We lock in and work harder.

We get our minds right! We push through and make it happen!  We suck it up!

These heroic efforts make for great stories and social media posts, but they often mask the most fundamental, foundational truths associated with our circumstances.

Most of those truths are hiding in plain sight within our environment.

We’re so enveloped within our environment that its influence becomes imperceptible.

Our options, the solutions we opt for are formed from what we can see. Our perceptions!

We see a world that always seems to be hustling harder, so that’s what we commit to do.

Why? Because effort is visible!

Meanwhile, our environment is slowly adding more weight on our backs. Slowly applying more resistance to us.

Best case scenario, we begin to see a diminished return on those efforts.

Worst case scenario, we become exhausted, disheartened, and completely disengaged from the process.

We question everything, down to our identity.

I urge you to get in the habit of evaluating your environment to ensure it’s aligned with your intentions and subsequent efforts.

Life is hard enough, as is, let’s not make it harder than it needs to be by ignoring the environmental influences.
