The reigning Olympic and World Champion in the Women’s 400m Hurdles has a losing record in 2023.

Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone is a five-time world and Olympic champion. So why the losing record in 2023 thus far? Is she missing a step? Is she in a funk? Is it her coaching? Nutrition? Lack of sleep?

The reality is she is taking losses in 2023 on purpose.

I would argue that the fear of failure is the number one reason most people will come nowhere close to reaching their full potential. It will not be from a lack of effort, unclear objectives, missed deadlines, or poorly executed plans. Nope, we will simply not bother to try.

His greatest advice was to a young mentee who was stressed, full of angst and consumed with “the chase.” You know the type of chase I’m talking about here. The type of chase that keeps leaders up late and up early in the morning. Perpetual effort and “hard-work.”

How do you know if you are living by faith?

You are purposefully pursuing a dream. A dream that you cannot fully fulfill on your own.

Great faith inspires great dreams.

Great dreams require great faith.

Children have a lot to teach us!

They’re the purest representation of ambition we’ll ever witness.

Children approach the “impossible” every day with an eagerness to challenge themselves, learn something new, and grow from the experience.

They know no limitations, because their entire existence is one big limitation gradually being overcome.

Some of the best marketing and advertising campaigns in the last 50 years came from one epicenter. Widen & Kennedy in Portland, Oregon.

“Just Do It.”

“Bo Knows.”

“Air Jordan”

“Livestrong”

“This is Sportscenter”

“Coke Side of Life.”

All Wieden & Kennedy or their associates.

At any given moment we’re either living in a way marked by God’s design or we’re drifting into “those old grooves.”

Those old grooves are so comfortable. Even though we hate where they lead us when we’re in those old grooves. They’re just so easy to slide into.
