What's Your Exclusive Gift? It's Your Responsibility

What's Your Exclusive Gift? It's Your Responsibility

Whoever you are, wherever you are, you have responsibilities.

Of all the responsibilities, I believe one stands out the most.

The responsibility of engaging in the work we’re built for. Or to quote Andy Stanley, “Only do what only you can do.”

I think we all can agree that we're better suited for some work more than other work?

Ok, now that we’ve established that foundational understanding let’s take a look at what that means and why it’s important.

For starters, that means that your options for doing great work are limited. You can’t do everything great, but you can do something great.

It’s important because it means that there is some work that you should never delegate. Yes, never!

Here’s why.

It’s a gift to have the ability to be great at something.

It’s more than a gift. It’s an exclusive gift, because it’s your specific gift!

It may not feel like a gift at the moment, because there is still lots of work to do in cultivating it. But it’s your responsibility to do the work to cultivate your exclusive gift. Sorry, you can’t delegate it!

For some it does feel like a gift, but its preciousness is wearing off from the day to day monotony of doing great work. But it’s your responsibility to leverage your exclusive gift for meaningful work. Sorry, you can’t delegate it.

For others, you’re yet to acknowledge your exclusive gift, or worse you don’t believe you’ve received one. Well then, it’s your responsibility to discover it. Sorry, you can’t delegate it.

As we enter 2026;

  • Let us rediscover and not lose sight of our exclusive gift.

  • Let us warmly embrace all the work and responsibilities that will come along with it.
